Mt Hotham Medical Centre is a general practice with urgent care capability, meaning we have the facilities, skills and equipment available to undertake initial assessment of patients and initial treatment of any presentation. Patients who present to our clinic, either with a booked appointment with the doctor, or by ski patrol, are assessed quickly to determine priority and urgency of medical assessment and treatment. This process is called triage, and is standardised in all emergency departments and urgent care facilities through the Australasian Triage Scale (ATS).
Our staff are trained, experienced and skilled at making this triage assessment with the unpredictability of accidents, medical events and deterioration.
Due to the unpredictable nature of injuries, there may be periods of time where you will have to wait. Please be patient, our staff are more than happy to accommodate waiting times as best we can.
We have three wonderful nurses who are present throughout the entirety of the season, each with a broad diversity of experience from Primary Health, Rural and Remote Care, Emergency, Intensive Care and Paramedicine.
If you are experiencing chest pain, shortness of breath or any other emergency please call 000
